Rules for the Comment Widget
1: Know that I hate rules, moderation, and limitations in general. I'm only even committing to rules because
the internet can get ugly very very fast and with a few deletions I have some hope of keeping discourse from
getting too heated and causing internet drama, which I hate even worse than rules, moderation, and limitations in general.
2: Be nice. I mean it. This is probably the rule where I'll be the biggest stickler because it's what I really care
about. The other rules are just my way of clarifying subsets of this one.
3: No politics. There are a lot of things which are unavoidably political in normal discussion of comics with as
high a GBLT density as mine, but I draw the line at direct references to particular controversies. General topics such as,
say, overarching trends in bioethics may be considered okay, but be warned that when politics enter a conversation, that
conversation may be subject to deletion.
4: Keep it (sort of) clean. A good guideline would be that, if it is something I would never say in the comic
you're reading, it probably doesn't belong in the comments for that comic. I'll try not to be too draconian here, but
as with rule 3, I am the authority on what's gone too far and if you're near the line, don't be too surprised if your
comments vanish.
5: Let it go. If your comment disappears, please understand it's not a dig at you in particular, just at those
particular words and whether they should be here. The system I'm putting in place here depends on people not getting
upset about deleted comments and then reposting them obsessively because I am very much not obsessed with this posting
ap and if a persistent problem develops my reaction may well be to just remove the comment applet entirely.
End of line.
